Boyarinblyum's Pharmacy (under the eagle)

In the early twentieth century one of Polotsk pharmacies was owned by Boyarinblyum. The so-called "under the eagle" pharmacy was the only one of the kind in the city in 1910. A double-headed eagle, the same as on the coat of arms of the Russian Empire, was hung above the entrance to the establishment. Those characters were hung above the entrances of all "free" pharmacies whose owners had received the privilege from the state for opening them. In the pharmacy customers could get medicines and medical consultations, read medical literature and order cosmetics according to own recipe.
