Magazines "Detskoye chteniye" and "Yunaya Rossiya"

Magazines Detskoye chteniye and Yunaya Rossiya were among the best children's magazines of the 19th - early 20th centuries.

The popular magazine Detskoye chteniye had been being published for over 35 years. In 1906 it was renamed into Yunaya Rossiya. Each issue of the monthly illustrated magazine for family and school reading contained stories and novels, essays about nature, historical materials, tips for young gardeners and friends of animals, reviews of children's books, entertaining games and tasks. Keys to the tasks were placed at the end of the next issue. Works of both Russian and foreign authors were published in the magazine (H.C. Andersen, S.T. Aksakov, C. Dickens, J. London, A.N. Pleshcheev, M. Twain, A.K. Tolstoy, L.N. Tolstoy etc.). All materials were written in the language accessible for children.
