Polotsk Women’s Gymnasium


Polotsk Women’s Gymnasium was opened in 1903. It had 7 grades, 2 preparatory grades and the eighth pedagogical grade. Studies weren’t free of charge. Tuition fee was 65 rubles on average. The main subject was the Law of God. Classes were conducted in a single shift. Each lesson lasted 55 minutes, each break – 5 minutes. Students had Christmas, Easter and summer holidays. The gymnasium rented the building from the men’s Monastery of the Epiphany. Two-story stone building is not preserved.
