An important class for students from the 1st to the 7th grades was craft. Its purpose was to teach girls "all kinds of women's work". At these classes students were taught to take measurements, cut, sew and knit. During the course girls mastered dressmaking of a children's and ladies' dress and linen.
For convenience students used a special craft table. The handmade table presented at the exhibition, was made in the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century. It has curly sloping tabletop on a fine-moulded leg and a slide-out drawer for sewing supplies.
